In May 25, 2016, Secretary General Ban Ki-moon issued a statement by a spokesman today, expressing his deep concern about reports that the political situation in Congo Democratic Republic has been increasingly tense around the uncertainty of the electoral process in the country.

Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the 25 day of the statement, called on the Congo (DRC) basic freedoms and rights of all political parties should strictly respect the country's constitutional protection, and urges all parties to exercise restraint measures, to express their views in a peaceful way, including the upcoming 26 days this month the protests.

Ban Ki-moon appealed to all political parties in Congo to participate in a meaningful political dialogue aimed at resolving their differences peacefully, putting the country's national interests above personal interests. He urged all sides to cooperate fully with the African Union coordinator Kojo (Edem Kodjo) who promoted the dialogue between Congo and Kim, and reiterated that the United Nations will fully support this effort.

At the beginning of this year, Kabila, President of Congo (Jin), tried to extend his term of office by modifying presidential election law, which led to strong dissatisfaction of the opposition parties and launched several demonstrations and protests. The opposition parties announced that the national demonstrations will be held again in May 26th.
